I all started way back when I first learned to swim. I always wanted to see what was under the surface. I have an uncle who's only a few years older than me. When we were kids we went to the beach alot. We had some crappy rubber fins, snorkels with the ping pong ball valves that didn't work and those single oval lens masks with the rubber skirts that cracked and leaked like crazy. It was still a lot of fun. I swear we spent more time under the water than at the surface...
Fast forward to February 1998... I'm on a week long vaction at a resort on Provo, Turks and Caicos. The wind is so strong, sitting on the beach is like being in a sandblasting cabinet. I notice they are offering a resort course for scuba diving, so I take it. I have trouble clearing my ears and have to abort my dive. That was it... I was hooked. I didn't care what it would take, this was something I HAD to do.
I've been a PADI certified Open Water Diver since August 1998. I took Enriched Air Diver in October of 2000. In 2002 I finished my Advanced Open Water certification while diving in Bonaire. After a few years break from training, I decided it was time for more education. In August of 2007 I took Emergency First Responder and finished Rescue Diver. I also completed the specialty Peak Performance Buoyancy at the same time. I began my Divemaster training and internship in the fall of 2007. In January 2008 I completed Divemaster training as well as Wreck Diver and Underwater Naturalist specialties. In June of 2008 i finished my PADI Assistant Instructor training. I achieved the Master Scuba Diver rating over the summer of 2008. In August 2008 I lead a group on a trip to Bonaire.
I enjoy underwater photography, reefs, wrecks and helping others learn to dive and improve their skills.
If you'd like to know more, or are looking for someone to dive with, just ask ! I frequently go to the Keys and also go on trips a few times a year. I've been to Bonaire, Roatan and Curacao for dive vactions.
